The
Challenge
During 1999, the ERM's target market has gradually shifted from
large enterprises to medium or small companies. Several phenomena
have come along with this shift: the rise of local ERP vendors,
the growing opportunity for ASP business, flexible componentization
vs. package ERP...,etc. This market is turning into a mature stage
instead of rising star in the past; the players are anxiety to
know the opportunity and outlook of ERM market in Taiwan.
The
Solution
This
study intends to help clients to objectively evaluate how the
key vendors' standings and their respective strategies in Taiwan
ERM market, specifically Baan, Glovia, IFS, InterBiz/CA, JD Edwards,
Oracle, Ross, SAP, SSA. Also analyzed by a two-dimensional graphical
tool, measuring opportunity alignment on the X axis and ability
to gain share on the Y axis. All data were collected by in-depth
vendor & channel interviews, complimented with the desk research.
The Result
Taiwan's ERM software market (consisting
of ERM software license and maintenance only) totaled US$ 28.9
million, and 595 new customers (installation site) had been developed.
TechInsight expected that Taiwan's ERM software market will reach
US$ 39.75 million in 2000 and US$ 52.87 million in 2001. SCM,
CRM and ASP are considered as great opportunities to most vendors
and some of them have been eagerly seeking partnership for these
businesses. Localization, flexibility, componentization, Web capacity
will be the determinants to the success. Finally, to follow with
the current "e" trend, some ERP vendors have redefined
their direction and no longer limited themselves as ERP software
providers only but "total solution" or "e-Business
solution" providers/consultants as well.
