The
Challenge
In order to formulate the best
vertical marketing strategies, our client requested TechInsight's
assistance in developing a study to understand SAN market opportunity
in Taiwan, which targeted to find out Taiwan SAN market structure,
industry trend, and key players' performance; investigate the
existing end-users' behavior & expectation; and assess the
future demand of SAN through end-user survey in 4 industries.
The
Solution
By
achieving the research objectives, TechInsight conducted in-depth
interviews from 3 aspects: Vendors, Channels and End-Users. There
were total 44 face-to-face and telephone interviews been completed
with management or above level. Except from the targeted vendor
interviews, TechInsight purposed to digging out the accurate market
information and based on Top 500 IC Manufacturing from CW magazine,
Telecom, Banking/ Insurance, and Netgen for collecting various
opinions from different industries.
The Result
With
the study, we found Worldwide SAN market was escalating in a rapid
rate at 95.4 % YoY growth rate and reached US$11.06 million by
2000. Taiwan was still under embryo stage. Banking / Insurance
hold the most conservative attitude, while Telecom was the pioneer
adopting SAN technology and contributed 79% of total revenue.
We suggested our customer to put more efforts in marketing to
educate the market, and to improve channel's technical knowledge
since most of the users were mainly depends on decision making.
