The Challenge

When global IT vendors OEMed their PC or related IT products in Taiwan, components' price elasticity became very important. This project was intended to provide OEM buyers clear views on the PC component prices, as well as the material cost of PC systems. The prices indicated in this study included the volume purchase prices, and the best-buy prices available in the Taiwan markets.

The Solution

PC components in this study included Monitor, System Core Chips, Suppot Chips, Video Chips, Hard Disk Drives, Floppy Disk Drivers, CPU, LCD Flat Panel, Keyboard, Mouse, Printed Circuit Board, AC/DC Adopters & Power Supply, Battery, CD-ROM, Memory Chips and Other Memory, down to vendor, model, and spec levels. Provided prices included current quarter prices and quarterly forecast up to two years ahead.

The Result

This report helped our client save millions dollars in negotiating with the OEM partners to get better prices. Our client was very happy with the results, contracted with us as a new ongoing quarterly project, and covered more components in the new scope.
