The
Challenge
As an important market tracking
and scanning system for years, this project helped our client
understand the current 32-bits PC OS & NOS adoption rates
in selected commercial segments. It tracked the OS shares, dominated
OS, 16-bit to 32-bit OS conversion rates, Windows NT adoption
rates, Internet server shares and the Intranet usage and adoptions. It also investigated the PC
OS brand awareness, trial/actual user rates, OS upgrade opportunities,
and customer buying behaviors.
The
Solution
Through
the large-scale end user survey, we collected 406 valid samples
among selected commercial segments: Transportation, Banking, Security
& Insurance, Government, Manufacturing, Wholesale & Retailer,
Import & Export, Education & Research, and Services. All
samples were carefully balanced between Extra Large, Large, and
Small companies. The challenge of this study was composed of the
2-dimensional sampling, and analysis of the tremendous amount
of the collected data.
The Result
We delivered the hardware environment, PC
OS shares, Network Operating Systems, Data Base, Internet/Intranet,
Email/Groupware, Awareness/Usage, etc. from the survey results.
We analyzed the data, made the the year to year comparisons, offered
the strategic analysis and our recommendations. Such detailed
yearly analysis and report attributed part of our client's success
in dominating the related software markets.
